Here’s a little history on the site - we go back further than you think!
Early/Mid 2002: Anna was posting on a message board for the ill-fated WWA, an (at that time) up starting all-women’s wrestling promotion. There, each girl apart of the roster had her own section of the forum, and moderated it. Some of the girls posted on the board from time to time, and the one girl most prevalent there was Kyra, a young woman also known as Melina Perez, who often posted, chatted, and joked around with the fans, talking about pretty much everything. Anna kept in contact with her through there, and they eventually began e-mailing back and forth. When plans for the WWA went down, Melina still kept in contact through e-mails. Eventually, conversation went to Anna & Erin making Melina’s official site, but she told us that she already had one. MelinaPerez.com, at that time, was run by Melina’s modeling manager. So, we decided to go the fan site route, and RingBabe was born, hosted at the time by our friend Jordan at the now defunct www.extreme-motion.net. At extreme-motion.net/kyra, RingBabe was just a fansite, although recognized by Melina.
Eventually, RingBabe became RingBabe.net, and the domain officially opened on March 20th, 2003. MelinaPerez.com was handed over to us, and the two, RB.net and MP.com worked together in sort of a joint-production. MelinaPerez.com was still the *official* site, and RingBabe.net was the official fan source. Later in the year, RingBabe.net became Melina’s official website. MelinaPerez.com became a small site about Melina’s non-wrestling professions.
MelinaPerez.com expired and went by the wayside, and eventually RingBabe.net experienced problems of its own. The site went on a extended hiatus due to technical problems, and after much deliberation, it was decided to move on to a new domain. This, at the suggestion of Melanie, was Melina-Perez.org. This had a more professional feel, and gave us a fresh start. Beginning in August 2007, we restarted the site completely from scratch, adding in unique content and a look into Melina that no one has offered before. In late November 2007, the site was finally finished, and after much hard work, it was finally reopened to the public.
So far, that’s it! The site has more of a history than most would remember, and that was just the “Cliff Notes” version. Keep checking back for more to be added! |
