| “Screen”writing |
| Wrestling often resembles a Hollywood film - drama, intrique, mystery, action, romance, and much more. Why not, then, borrow from Hollywood for some storylines? Films may be hard to adapt to wrestling without going over-the-top or becoming unrealistic, but that’s half the fun - adapting and making things work. We list a few of our ideas below, and if you feel inspired, tell us your ideas! Be sure it is adapted from a film, television, or borrows from something else in pop culture. |
Inspired by the “relationship” between Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie — Thanks to Khary.
The Story will be like an Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie thing. Melina will be Paris and Beth Phoenix will be Nicole, Beth have to lose her title. After she lose her title Beth and Melina start to hang out more, hollywood parties, photo shoots, interviews, and matches, just to show their friendship. Then Melina gets an opportunity against the Women’s champion for the Championship. Beth wants Melina to turn it down or give that shot to her, Melina will ask her “if she’s out of her mind”?. Then Beth will interfere with the match when Melina had it won, this will turn Melina ‘Babyface’, Beth is attacking Melina brutaly. The Women’s Champion help Melina, Melina is now ‘kayfabe’ have an broken leg, now at an Pay-Per-View it will be the first Women Strecther Match. Melina wins, and that will be the end of the feud and Melina will return the favor by ‘kayfabe’ breaking the leg of Beth. |
Inspired by “Kill Bill” (2003) — Thanks to LaVonce G.
In this story, Melina is betrayed and ambushed by her loyal followers Beth Phoenix, Jillian Hall, Layla, Victoria, etc. After they cut Melina loose, she will take each Diva down one by one until she gets to the “BOSS” the Glamazon. She will have a series of matches with her until the big match, for the Women’s Championship where she will defeat the traitor and be the champ! |
Inspired by “Single White Female” (1992)
The film about a woman’s roommate who attempts to take over her life - adopting an identical look, sleeping with her boyfriend - show the lengths someone can go to in admiration of somebody else. This could be adapted into a storyline by bringing a new Diva onto the scene. She is randomly teamed with Melina, and Melina thinks nothing of it. However, the Diva soon takes to following Melina around, showing increasing signs of attachment. Melina starts to notice something’s awry, and with her heel demeanor, takes it as well deserved admiration. Soon, the Diva is replicating Melina’s look, right down to the body movements and verbal traits. Melina notices this and starts to push her lackey away, carelessly insulting her. However, this only makes her more determined, and soon she’s doing everything Melina’s done - down to hunting down Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro in attempts to befriend them. Melina casts her ego aside and confronts the Diva, completely serious in telling her to back off. When this doesn’t do the trick, Melina decides to humiliate her in the middle of the ring, doing something to completely destroy her psyche. This brings out the worst in the Diva, and soon goes out for revenge, taking out everything Melina holds near and dear, and ending in going for her. This culminates in a high-profile match, with the winner moving on, and the loser leaving for good (or, in WWE terms, the loser moves to another brand). |
Inspired by “Fight Club” (1999)
In this film, the only female - named Marla Singer - undergoes a lot of heartache and pain in her ignorance to the Narrator’s turmoil. This story, without spoiling the outcome of the film, could be attributed to a relationship between Melina and a male wrestler. The wrestler could be experiencing some major internal problems, possibly short of being insane. Melina could be oblivious and care deeply about his troubles, but really having no idea. When these problems come to affect her in physical ways, with her getting in harm’s way, she becomes angry, and leaves him. She continues to encounter him, becoming increasingly frustrated until it comes to its boiling point. Despite her caring for him, she tries to get away, and this causes everything to be brought to light. She becomes aware of his internal issues, by way of a very dangerous moment. In the end, they may stay together or keep apart, but nothing between them will be the same. |
Inspired by “Down in the Valley” (2005)
This story of a young girl infatuated with a stranger can be adapted to a storyline by way of Melina meeting a new wrestler. He is mysterious, and his intentions aren’t quite clear. However, he seems like a geniunely good person, and she soon becomes attached to him, forsaking her other relationships for one with him. His quirks start to come out of the woodwork and everyone seems to notice this but her. Eventually, she notices that he seems to be unhinged, and gently attempts to sever her ties. this causes him to lose it, and she suffers extreme consequences. Even as she begins to recover, he tries to warm back up to her, geniunely caring for her. She, however, wants nothing to do with him, and does everything in her power to be free of him. |
