• WHAT? — “Underworld” (2003) & “Underworld: Evolution” (2006), films about the dark world of vampires, lycan s, and the secret war between them.
• WHO? – Selene, the lead female vampire. She is a fierce warrior and has a serious demeanor, harboing hate for the Lycan race until she falls in love with a man infected with the Lycan disease. She is played by Kate Beckinsale.
• WHY? – Selene rarely shows emotion until she becomes involved with Michael, the Lycan she saves and falls in love with. She has a dark undercurrent, and that combined with being a proficient killer maks her a rare female character. Her darkness and ruthlessness provide a different sort of character for someone like Melina to play. A WWE Diva is rarely so void of emotion, so it would be an interesting challenge for Melina to play her.
• PLOT? –
• UNDERWORLD - Vampires and Werewolves have been sworn enemies for hundreds of years. Now fought in a Gothic-like setting, the conflict takes an unexpected and deadly new turn. Selene, a beautiful vampire warrior, uncovers a Lycan plot that could prove fatal for her entire race. She shadows a human, Michael, the Lycan’s supposed target. Although she finds herself becoming attracted to him, he becomes infected with the lupine disease during a violent struggle with the Lycan overlord, Lucian, long thought to be dead. Now both sides must decide how to end the conflict and save their species as new and terrifying secrets unearth themselves and threaten their entire existance.
• UNDERWORLD: EVOLUTION - Beginning where Underworld finished, Selene and Michael are on the run from the vampires. Being the cause of Viktor’s death, Selene can only hope to plea to the last remaining elder, Marcus. However, Marcus has already awakened and has become a more powerful creature than before. Now his only remaining goal is to awaken his Lycan brother, William from his eternal imprisonment. With time running out, Selene and Michael must piece together the final clues to unlock the secrets of their bloodlines and stop Marcus before it’s too late. |

• “The war had all but ground to a halt in the blink of an eye. Lucian, the most feared and ruthless leader ever to rule the Lycan clan, had finally been killed. The Lycan horde scattered to the wind in a single evening of flame and retribution. Victory, it seemed, was in our grasp, the very birthright of the vampires. Nearly six centuries had passed since that night, yet the ancient feud proved unwilling to follow Lucian to the grave. Though Lycans were fewer in number, the war itself had become more perilous, for the moon no longer held her sway. Older, more powerful Lycans, were now able to change at will. The weapons had evolved, but our orders remained the same: Hunt them down and kill them off, one by one. A most successful campaign. Perhaps too successful. For those like me, a Death Dealer, this signaled the end of an era. Like the weapons of the previous century, we, too, would become obsolete. Pity, because I lived for it.”
• “I am a Death Dealer, sworn to destroy those known as the Lycans. Our war has waged for centuries, unseen by human eyes. But all that is about to change.”
• Selene: “Lycans are allergic to silver. We have to get the bullets out quickly, or they end up dying on us during questioning.”
Michael Corvin: “What happens to them afterward?”
Selene: “We put the bullets back in.”
• Selene: “Why are you helping me?”
Erika: “I’m not. I’m helping me.”
• Selene: “Kraven, I’m serious!”
Kraven: “Other than food, why would a lycan stalk a human?”
• Selene: “I’ve been lost without you, my Lord; constantly hounded by Kraven and his never-ending infatuation.”
Viktor: [Laughs] “It is the oldest story in the book; he desires the one thing he cannot have.”
• Tanis: “You don’t scare me, Selene.”
Selene: “Well, we’ll have to work on that.”
• Selene: “Viktor deserved his fate. And Kraven was no better.”
Marcus: “Kraven has already reaped the rewards of his own misdeeds. And yes, Viktor deserved his fate, many times over. A terrible business, the slaying of your mortal family. Yet so much effort was spent to conceal this matter from me. What do you suppose Viktor had to hide? Or perhaps it is you Selene, as the last of your wretched family, who has something to hide?”
• “For six centuries I was a loyal soldier to the vampire clan. But I was betrayed. The war was not as it had seemed. In one night, the lies that had united our kind had been exposed. Kraven, our second-in-command, had formed a secret alliance with Lucian, leader of the werewolf clan, to overthrow Viktor, our leader. But Kraven’s lust for power and domination had failed. Viktor was not the savior I had been led to believe. He had betrayed us all. Soon, the hunt will be on for his killer. I have but one ally left: Michael, the human descendent of Corvinus. Neither vampire nor lycan, but a hybrid. It’s only a matter of time before we’re found. My only hope now is to awaken Markus, our last remaining elder, and expose the truth before Kraven tries to murder him while he’s still in hibernation. Kraven knows he’s no match for him awake.” |
