• WHAT? — “Daredevil” (2003) & “Elektra” (2005), two films featuring female superhero Elektra.
• WHO? – Elektra Natchios is an accomplished martial artist who was driven to become an assasin following the death of her father. She has powers of telepathy and telekinesis. She was/is the girlfriend of blind superhero Daredevil. She is played by Jennifer Garner.
• WHY? – Elektra can be one of the most ruthless killers, and yet shows compassion for the innocent. Her range of emotions in “Daredevil” showed that while she his unstoppable in pursuit of revenge, she is still capable of love. One of the toughest and most cold-blooded superheroes around, Elektra is not to be underestimated, much like Melina in the squared circle.
• PLOT? –
• DAREDEVIL: Fate deals young orphan Matt Murdock a strange hand when he is doused with hazardous waste. The accident leaves Matt blind but also gives him a heightened “radar sense” that allows him to “see” far better than any man. Years later Murdock has grown into a man and becomes a respected criminal attorney. But after he’s done his “day job” Matt takes on a secret identity as “The Man Without Fear,” Daredevil, the masked avenger that patrols the neighborhood of Hell’s Kitchen and New York City to combat the injustice that he cannot tackle in the courtroom.
• ELEKTRA: Elektra, once a student of Kimagure, a force for good, who’s masters can see the future and even bring people back from the dead, is now a paid assassin. The enemy, the force for evil, at this time is known as the hand, whose members use the dark arts. In this tale Elektra is given an assignment to kill a man and his daughter (Mark and Abby Miller). However when the time comes to complete the mission she is unable to. The daughter is also being sought by the Hand, for she is known as a treasure that can tip the scales in favor of either good or evil. The Hand, who have the policy of “If we can’t have her then no one can”, send their own people to kill her. Elektra then allies herself with the Millers and helps to protect them from the Hand. The journey to the climax, the ultimate battle between good and evil for the treasure, has some interesting revelations, heading for a finale with an interesting twist.
