• WHAT? — “Spider-Man 4″ an upcoming 4th sequel in the Spider-Man film franchise.
• WHO? – Black Cat, an anti-hero and cat-burglar-turned-villain that often switches from ally to enemy of Spider-Man. Her real name is Felicia Hardy.
• WHY? – It is unknown what villians will appear in Spider-Man 4, but if Black Cat were to be chosen, Melina could represent her well. Felicia’s trademark wit and physical prowess makes her one of Spider-Man’s most challenging foes, and also one of his most valuable allies. She often has a dark sense of humor, due to her haunting past. That, combined with her ability to stand toe-to-toe with Spider-Man and his enemies makes her an entertaining character that Melina could embody quite well.
• PLOT? – If Black Cat were to appear in the fourth film, she would most likely not be used as a love interest for Spider-Man, as was depicted in the comics. With the “girl trouble” he went through in Spider-Man 3, it’s unlikely the writers would want Peter Parker to travel down the same path in the next installment. Instead, she could be Spider-Man’s first female enemy, perhaps focusing on Mary Jane in some sort of jealousy or mere hate. |

Spider-Man: “You don’t understand. You don’t know why I do this.”
Black Cat: “What? Parents got killed by a mugger? Abducted by aliens? Sold you to the circus? It doesn’t matter. Whatever the reasons, you can’t change the past. What’s done is done. You have to live for the present.”
Spider-Man: “Hippie.”
Black Cat: [Laughs] “All right, fine. Don’t cheer up. All I’m saying is you’re going to get an ulcer or something.”
• “You’ve got moves… for a dork in tights.”
• “Me? I’m Black Cat, and I just crossed your path. Now if you’ll excuse me..”
[Leaps off building]
• [After Spider-Man finally catches up to her] “You’re finally here? I was just about to settle in for a little nap.”
• Spider-Man: “I don’t get you. Last time you were an ice queen, but now you’re friendly. Make up your mind!”
Black Cat: “It’s called a woman’s perogative. It’s in the rule book. Look it up!”
• Black Cat: “I can’t believe they shot down those police choppers.”
Spider-Man: “Yeah, knowing my luck I’ll get blamed for that, too.” |
| • Black Cat has always been portrayed as a shapely woman with silver or platinum blonde hair. She wears a sleek black leather catsuit and boots with fur trim. Her mask which surrounds her eyes varies, as does the rest of her costume, but it all relatively stays the same. |
